CasaTunesX now lets you set a static IPv4 address for your CasaTunes music server. A consistent address is especially useful when an automation or control system connects to CasaTunes using an IP address entered during installation. If that address changes, the control system may need to be reconfigured.
We recommend reserving an IP address through the network’s DHCP server when possible. In many installations, though, the dealer does not have permission to access the router or DHCP server. The new Static IP option gives dealers a way to keep the CasaTunes server at a consistent address without changing the network equipment.
Open Network settings in CasaTunesX and select Static IP as the IP address mode. You can review or edit the IP address, subnet mask, gateway, preferred DNS, and alternate DNS.
When you first select Static IP, CasaTunesX fills in the server’s current network settings as a starting point. You can keep those values or adjust them for the installation. To return to automatic addressing, select Dynamic (DHCP).
If the server is moved to another network or its network configuration changes, the configured gateway may become unreachable. CasaTunes monitors that connection and, after 15 minutes of continuous gateway unreachability by default, automatically switches the server back to DHCP. This delay helps avoid a switch caused by a brief network interruption.
The Network settings screen displays a warning when recovery occurs. CasaTunes retains the previously entered static IP settings, so you can review them and select Static IP again once the network issue is resolved.
