User Profiles

CasaTunes User Profiles provides an easy way to customize the CasaTunesX App User Experience for customers and to limit or “lock down” the configuration changes a user can make to their CasaTunes system, preventing customers from inadvertently reconfiguring CasaTunes

CasaTunes ships with 3 built-in profiles, the Admin, User and Guest profiles.  Only the Admin profile allows users to make configuration changes to their CasaTunes system and to manage the User Profiles.

To select a different User Profile, go to Menu > Settings > Change User Profile.

Select a User Profile for a device

In addition to the Admin, User and Guest profiles, CasaTunes provides two special profiles, the “Special - Room” and “Special - Smart Tasks” profiles.

Select the “Special - Room” profile when you want to dedicate a device to control a single room or room group.  This profile pre-configures the profile settings required to lock down a device to control a specific room.

Select the “Special - Smart Tasks” profile when you want to dedicate a device to display the Smart Tasks page (custom UI) for a Smart Task User.

CasaTunes includes 3 custom profiles, Custom1 , Custom2 and Custom3 respectively, which you can rename and customize for your specific needs, if required.

Customize the CasaTunesX User Experience by configuring the User Profile Settings

When the Admin profile is selected, the admin can select the default User Profile and lock the User Profile settings (see image above).

The default User Profile is the profile assigned to all new devices that connect to the music server (See step 4 in the image above).

When CasaTunes is installed, it assigns the Admin profile as the default User Profile. We recommend that after you have completed configuring the system, you select the User profile as the default User Profile. This ensures users will not be able to change the CasaTunes system configuration.

In order to prevent users from changing the selected profile and/or profile settings for a device, you should lock the Profile Settings (see step 5 in the image above). When locking the profile settings, the admin will be prompted to enter a password and a recovery email that can be used to recover a lost password.

You can change the profile settings for any User Profile, including the admin, user and/or guest profiles. If you decide later you want to restore the profile settings, you can restore the original profile settings by selecting the Reset Settings button (Step 6 in the image above).

Each profile includes a list of Profile Settings. These settings provide control over various CasaTunesX App settings and/or features, allowing you to hide or show controls, menus and buttons available in the User Interface, control access to rooms and sources, and control Smart Tasks options (see image above).
