CasaTunes My Music discovers, indexes, and if configured, copies all your music files located on one or more of your PCs, Macs and/or networked storage devices, to your CasaTunes music server. Once the music files have been discovered and indexed, CasaTunes can play your music either from their original networked location, or from a local copy stored on the music server.
If you are an existing CasaTunes user, My Music automatically creates a CasaMusic music collection. This music collection includes all the music you previously synced using CasaTunesSync on a Mac or PC. If you have never used CasaTunesSync you should delete this empty music collection.
We recommend you use My Music and disable using the iTunes music service and CasaTunesSync in CasaSetup. The iTunes and Windows music services will be removed in a future release of CasaTunes.
If you are an existing CasaTunes user, My Music automatically creates the WMPMusic music collection, which includes all the music you copied to the WMPMusic share and any CDs you may have ripped on your music server. If you have never copied music to your WMPMusic share and you are not going to be ripping CDs on your CasaTunes music server (which requires the optional CD accessory), then we recommend you delete this music collection in CasaSetup.
If you are planning to rip CDs on your CasaTunes music server, we suggest you rename this music collection “CD Music” or something similar, to make it clear to the user that their ripped CD music will be found in this music collection.
We recommend you use My Music and disable using the Windows music service in CasaSetup.
New CasaTunes systems include the CD Music music collection . Any CDs ripped on your CasaTunes music server can be found in this music collection. If you are not planning on using your CasaTunes music server to rip CDs you should delete this music collection in CasaSetup.
My Music automatically monitors your iTunes library for any changes, and automatically re-scans your iTunes library within a few minutes after there are no more changes to the library. Any newly added music can be found in the “Recently Added” collection.
If you still do not see your newly added music, or you are not using iTunes, you can manually force My Music to re-scan your music collection by navigating to your music collection in the Android, iOS or browser App and selecting the Sync or Refresh button.
Music collections are automatically re-scanned daily, if the PC, Mac or Network Storage Device is online.
To help diagnose artwork related issues it is helpful to understand how My Music discovers the artwork for a track. My Music attempts each step below, in order, until it finds the artwork for a track:
The most common reason for this occurring is when there are tracks in more than one folder with the same album name. Another reason for this is when tracks from the same album have different names.
To fix the first issue you should move all tracks from the same album into the same folder, and for the second issue you will need to edit the track meta data and apply a common album name to all tracks.
Keep in mind, that after you modify your music collection with your fixes, you will need to manually re-scan the music collection for the changes to take effect.
My Music does not support using your iCloud password to connect to your Mac. You will need to change your Mac to use a separate local login password, then verify it in CasaTunes Setup again. To setup your Mac to use a local login password:
Simply plug the USB drive directly into an available USB port on the CasaTunes music server. My Music automatically catalogs the music on the USB drive into a new temporary music collection. This music collection is automatically removed when you unplug the USB drive.
After you plug the USB drive into an available USB port on the CasaTunes music server, open CasaSetup, select the temporary music collection for the USB driver, and check the Copy option for the music collection. My Music will copy the music from the USB drive to the music server, and the temporary collection will be persisted.
