Regarding Internet Radio stations, does CasaTunes only play and control Shoutcast?  Can it play and control stations via Windows Media Player?  Any Internet Radio Station?

You can add your own radio stations using the “Radio Manager” as shown in the “Radio Manager instructional video” at http://www.CasaTunes.com/guides.
Also, to see all 24,000+ SHOUTcast stations, make sure you pick “All Genres” when selecting music. We default to “Select Genres” to narrow down the number of stations to make it a little less daunting.

I bought CasaTunes and am setting it up.  I watched the tutorial listed and it was helpful.  However, when I run the Radio Manager, I see a tab for “Presets” which is not in the tutotial. I see a couple of stations I would like.

There are fields for banks and I am not sure what these are for.

Also, these same stations show up on the FM tab where I selected them as Favorites. I saved and they show up in Radio Manager under Favorites but they do not show up in the CasaTunes interface for Favorites under Internet Radio. What am I missing or where is there documentation for this?

And a little off topic..  I have my Windows Media library on another computer.  I can see this library and my playlists in Windows Media player on the CasaTunes server but none of the music shows up in CasaTunes under Windows music. What am I missing here? I thought it would sync the music???

And lastly, after installing the XLe card, drivers and CasaTunes software, I lost sound through my PC soundcard/speakers. It was working before the install.  When I go into device manager, I only see CasaTunes and headphones (also listed as CasaTunes).  How do I get the PC sound back and keep CasaTunes functioning?

Using Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.

Thanks much!

hello,

Just thought i would chime in.

It sounds like your are trying to add FM stations from the presets to your favorites.  I don’t think that will work unless you have a seperate FM tunner.  Most of the presets (at least i think) are for external tuners.

You might actually be able to get the stations you want with the new version of Casatunes 2.7 through radiotime.  Install the new casatunes and set up a radiotime account and you can add local radiostation favorites via the raidio time website.  enter your login info in the castunes setup and you will see your favorites in casatunes.

On the new version, you probably wont’ need to use the radio station manager very much unless you have specific internet stations not in shoutcast or radiotime, or external tuners.

For the Media Libraray, you have to run casatunes sync.  Castunes will only play media that is on the local HD.  Casatunes sync will copy the library over.

Sorry don’t know how to help with the XLe.  Hopefully you get input from the CT folks.

Good explanation of the radio features in CasaTunes, Cartman, Thanks.

Regarding adding Disk based music, CasaTunesSync is only used for iTunes music. Music in a Windows Media Player library is picked up automatically when the CasaTunes Windows Music library is refreshed. We will create a new How To guide explaining all this as soon as we can. Also, in V2.70 setup, you can disable Windows Music if you only use iTunes.

Regarding the other problem, JGSP called in and we fixed the problem. Turns out that HP computers (and maybe some others?) require a setting change in the computer’s BIOS, to allow the on-board audio to continue working when a 2nd sound card is plugged in. Since our XL hardware looks like a sound card to Windows, this setting needed to be changed.
FYI for others with this problem: there are really two solutions. Some computers that came out when Vista was first released require their on-board audio drivers to be updated to allow on-board audio to work when the XL hardware is plugged in. Some, like the HP, require a change in the BIOS. In the advanced settings for on-board audio, change Auto, to Enabled.

I just have to say how impressed I am with the support from the CasaTunes experts.  They have gone out of their way to help with the questions and issues (few and minor by the way) I had. They are prompt, courteous and knowledgeable.

You guys are great!

Also, I really like the improvement with 2.7. All good stuff.
