Does Russound’s announced release of their Russound I/O, or “RIO” command protocol bring CasaTunes any closer to supporting Russound C-Series keypads?

No.  The RIO simplifies 3rd party integration with Russound products, however, it does not facilitate integration with the keypads.

Last fall (2009) when I purchased CasaTunes software, the word from David was that CasaTunes would soon (December?) issue an upgrade that would allow it to provide metadata in Russound C-Series MDK-C5 keypads.  Has this effort been shelved?  I have several customers with installed Russound C-Series systems that would install CasaTunes if the integration with their existing MDK-C5 keypads was included.

Brian, although the project has not been shelved we still do not have the information we need to complete this project.  Unfortunately, we have no ETA at this time.

Is there any update on this integration with the new Russound MCA-C5 keypads?
I would prefer to have a casatunes instead of the Russound SMS3 but I need integration so I can use the keypads to browse through my music library.
I still have a few months before I can move to my new house but everything is taking his final form. So I need to decide soon.
I see this has been asked for long time ago so I hope there is some progress.

So I’ve decided not to go with the SMS. But I’m still not convinced to buy the Casatunes software. I ran out of trial unfortunatly.
I think I’ll look back into it when the mca-c5 keypads will be supported.
So therefore my question. Is this a work in progress or has it been shelved?

I am also considering a CasaTunes system to integrate with a Russound C-Series system.  It has been some time since the reply on the ability to integrate with the C-Series keypads.  Has this been abandoned?  Any information would be appreciated - my buying decision is quickly approaching.

The latest version of CasaTunes, v2.80.110331, will display meta data on the keypads as well as allow you to use the keypads to select a CasaTunes playlist.  In addition, you can use the transport controls (Next, Previous, Pause), etc.  In order to enable this support, you must configure each CasaTunes Media player source as an RNET bridge dock device on the C series.

Can you also navigate by artists, album, etc?

Not at this time, just CasaTunes Playlists.
