Has the CasaTunes Russound kit been tested with the VM1 ?

We have not tested the VM1 w/ CasaTunes, but according to Russound, the VM1 integration should be seamless.

According to Russound, after linking the VM1 and your CAV 6.6 using the RNET ports, the VM1 will respond to any source selection events (which is what CasaTunes uses to change sources on the CAV 6.6) for zones 1 through 8 (where zones 7 & 8 are actually zones 1 & 2 on your second CAV 6.6).

thanks for the fast reply, is there a better and easier (cheaper) way to add video switching to the Casatunes system. i.e.  use the XLe with its 4 external inputs being SAT1, SAT2, DVD etc.  The idea would be to have the video matrix stitch video sources when the zone selects a different external source.

Any ideas ?

It certainly is the simplest, because it is seamless.  An alternative would be to use the CasaTunes serial API which sends a serial message when a source for a zone is changed, and use this to switch the source on your video matrix switch.  The documentation for the serial API is found in the how to guides.  This solution will require some programming on your part.
