Ok, so I jumped right in today and Rooted my wife’s brand new NookColor so that I could get access to the Android Market.  I downloaded CasaTunes v1.2 (according to the Market Notes).  I’ve been a long time user of the iPhone app, so was surprised when I couldn’t seem to locate the volume control in this Android version.  When I’ve selected a specific room I can see the transport controls but where is the volume slider?  Am I missing something, or maybe this is an issue with using on the NookColor since it’s a different screen size/resolution than a typical Android smartphone?  Any thoughts would be great.

Anyhow, I wanted to say thanks for jumping into the Android marketplace with CasaTunes.  I look forward to offering this for clients that also have Android phones or tablets in the future.

Update——-
Duh!!  Now I see the note about using the devices volume hard buttons!  I thought I had tried without seeing any change at the wall keypad, but maybe it was a wifi glitch.

Good Job Guys!

Does the Nookcolor have physical volume controls? If so, the app takes them over.
This has confused a couple of people grin
I may add a system option to show a volume control onscreen, in case some newer devices don’t come with physical buttons.
If you have ANY crashes, please choose the option to send the report. This really helps me improve the app.
Also, let me know about the speeds you are seeing, since I have had a couple of reports of sluggish operation.
For example, how long does it take for you to go from opening app to showing Now Playing info and how long to show a list of albums.

Just checked the web and the Nookcolor does have a volume rocker. Let me know if it does not work. Hopefully, the creator of the root version included that capability.

Kim,
Yes the volume rocker does work with the NookColor.  Haven’t had any crashes yet.  Performance to load the app and navigate + refresh of metadata appear to be equivalent to my iPod Touch.  Also similar to what I see with CasaTunes web page open on my laptop.  I’ve ordered a couple Archos 28 units from Amazon that should arrive later next week.  I think I’ll need to also root them to enable the Android Market.  I’ll post an update on the performance I see with them.  I read a few Amazon user reviews that seem to indicate spotty wifi performance with them.

Merry Christmas,
Scott
