Hi,

I have downloaded the 2.7 demo,.
I have DENON amp and a 7.1 soundcard, but I can’t seem to configure it correct.

I tried the following:
1. Controller: MultiSource Media Player
don’t consider zones, but configure sources to use the designated channels
This doesn’t work and it seems to be more input(source) rather than output

2. Controller: CasaTunes demo (Simulates XLe)
configure sources to use the designated channels, but again doesn’t work

Please let me know what configuration is supposed to be used with non-listed AMP and soundcard.

Note 1:
link
suggest that latest 2.7 build with Itunes 10.1 works, which is not true, I had to follow guidlines of Apple to completely remove 10.1 and after installing 9.2 it worked

Note 2:
It took me some time to figure out that I had to run casatunessync, this is off course a typical case of RTFM but the reason why this should be run is a bit of a mistaery as I already configured the directory where to find my library in the casatunes setup

Kind regards,
Smurf

Smurf, CasaTunes is primarily designed to work with whole house audio solution that include matrix switching hardware (like the CasaTunes, ChannelVision, Nuvo and Russound hardware), and not a general purpose AV Receiver.  If you are not using a matrix switcher, you should use the MultiSource Media Player which will allow you play different streams on each of the different outputs of your sound card (more like a multi-output music server), but without the ability to switch music across these outputs.

In this case you could connect multiple outputs of the sound card to your Denon and use the Denon to switch between the CasaTunes streams (and the Denon zones depending on the capabilities of your Denon), or you could connect the Denon to use a single stream.

In addition to David’s comments:

RE: Note 1. We are sorry for that. We just released an updated version with the final fix for the 10.1 version of iTunes. You can download it at downloads.

RE: Note 2. Because CasaTunesSync must be run on the computer(s) that contains iTunes, it is not always installed on the CasaTunes server. This is why the CasaTunes Setup program doesn’t auto-install CTSync.

Also, as David mentioned, using CasaTunes without a switch (either our XL products or NuVo, Russound or Channel Vision switches), is meant just as a demo to give you an idea of how it works. Sorry for the confusion!

Thanks for the clarification.

“If you are not using a matrix switcher, you should use the MultiSource Media Player which will allow you play different streams on each of the different outputs of your sound card (more like a multi-output music server), but without the ability to switch music across these outputs.”

My AMP is a 12-channel AMP build for whole house audio distribution (POA-3012). It is not a matrix switcher so I thought I could configure it in fact this way. “play different streams on each of the different outputs of your sound card” - but that isn’t working

I chose ‘MultiSource Media Player’ and configured the audio channels at the source-level (which is a bit unlogic grin, but I couldn’t figure out how to designated audi channels to the zones (rather than the sources).

Kind regards,
Smurf

Smurf, I think you should be using our XLi PCI-e card.  This will allow you to control your 12 channel amplifier and switch any of five sources (four built-in) to any or any combination of the 6 zones on your amp.

Yes, it can be confusing if you are not using a switch. Since there is no switch to route the sources to zones, there is no way to do what you want. As David mentioned earlier, you can put each of your 4 “sources” to a separate amplifier input and treat them like zones, but I don’t think that is what you are looking for. Again, the software without a switch is just meant to be used to allow you to see how the user interface works. When you add a switch, such as our XLi that David mentioned, then it starts working exactly like you would expect. You can route each of the six XLi outputs to separate amplifier inputs and then select which “source” is played in a particular zone or source.
