Hi,

i am planning to install a multizone audio system for our house.

As am running a server (WHS) with all my music, pictures and videos, and a client in every zone (MCE), i think the bestway would be to install the casatunes PCI card in the server, right?

What about the MCE Clients? Is it possible to “remote” control the casatunes system from all the clients? Out of MCE?

Thanks for your answers.

Yes, I would install it in the WHS server, as long as it has a full-height PCI-e slot available for the card.

All of the MCE clients will be able to control CasaTunes out of MCE. Also, any non-MCE client computers in the home that are on the same LAN will be able to control CasaTunes from their internet browsers (Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari, etc).

And, of course, you can control it from an iPhone or iPod touch or from a Pronto running our ProntoScript.

Ok, good… Thank you for your answer.

But i have an other question about the casatunes XLi Card and the Xla Amplifier.
Supposing the Xli Card is installed in a WHS server, connected to the amplifier:

Is there a possibility to control the volume over RS232, IP, or IR or to automatilliy mute one (or all) zone?
Scenario: Mute one/all zones if the Telephone rings .... (my telephone system has RS232 and IP)

Thank you very much for your answer.

Greetings

Yes you can using the CasaTunes Serial API (and Serial API over IP).  The documentation is installed with CasaTunes.  Please check the Serial Interface Guide under Windows Start->All Programs->CasaTunes.

Yes. See our document about RS232 and serial over IP at: CasaTunes Serial Interface.
This and other documents can be found here: CasaTunes.com/guides.
