Just ordered the CasaTunes XLi with Amplifier. Was looking at all sorts of other solutions on the web and nobody is offering exactly what I need. Casatunes seems like the perfect solution for me as all my music is on the network and I have prewired our new house for 10 zones each with cat5 runs from the control box at each room back to the audio hub. Probably not going to use the control pads at this point since I have all sorts of apple devices to control the system.

I wanted to have the ability for my wife to listen to music in our bedroom from my music server while I listen to different music in another room. Probably just going to start with six active zones for now but I love that I can add more relatively easily. I will keep you posted on the install progress but I am very glad I found you guys last night at 12:30.

Any recommendations on minimum specs on a PCs to use for the XLi card? Unfortunately my speaker wire and control box wire runs are not back to my server room but to the living room entertainment center so I will need to buy a PC to place on the network and sync my music files with the server.

I love than you guys are actively tweaking the software and seem very engaged on this discussion board….made my decision to buy easy. I will go ahead and echo that I would love to see the android software as I have sworn off the iphone until it’s on verizon.

Hi Paul,
Thanks for the nice comments!
Please be aware that the XLi is not expandable beyond 6 zones. If you think you might go beyond 6 zones, you might want to go with the XLe. We will update the product page to add a note about this.
Sorry for the confusion!

We have customers that are using Atom processors and getting great results, since we use very little resources. The main thing is that you need to have a full height PCI-e slot for the XLi or the XLe.

You may find that a Keypad here and there are handy for turning on/off the music in the room when you leave/arrive in the room.

Kim,

Thanks for the info. I have put a request to cancel my initial order in with customer service. I will order the XLe and probably a couple of keypads. I was thinking about using two Channel Vision A1260 amps. Would there be any issues using the CV amps as I can get a great deal on a couple of used ones. Are there any limitations with using non casatunes amps?

Thanks,

Paul

Paul,
We have no problems working with the Channel Vision amps.

Just found out that one of the amps is a Niles SI-1230. Is that going to be a problem? I am assuming that Casatunes works with a multitude of amps since all the controls happen on the PC and the sound comes out at pre-amp levels from the XLe. Let me know though. Thanks for all your help. I’m looking forward to getting this badboy up and running.

No problem, Paul. The Niles amp is a good amp.
