I cannot find an answer to this question and would like to confirm before I moved forward.

My objective is to replace a SMS250 with a media Center to serve movies and audio with.  Is it possible to have a multiple audio streams controlled by a CAM6.6 at the same time watching a 7.1 audio movie.  Would the processing requirements be higher to support this requirement and/or any other problems I would need to be aware of?

Related question is my plan is not to have the Audio on the media center but on a WHS, is this a problem?  does the content have to located on the local computer?

Hi Chris,
If I understand your question, you would need two Windows sound devices. For example, one could be the on-board audio and one would be an audio card installed in the PC. Then, one source would feed the CAM6.6 for multi-room audio and one would feed your home theater amp.
We can’t guarantee whether a PC has the capability to do both, as it depends on the software you use for the movie 7.1 audio and video.
The CasaTunes service typically runs below 6% of cpu usage and minimal hard drive (or LAN, if the music is not on the PC) usage, on a modern PC. This can spike up some during the time the music changes on a source, but should always be below 20%. So, unless the movies take huge processing power or hog the other resources (disk or LAN), you should be ok.

You can have the music on the WHS, a NAS or anywhere in the LAN as long as it show up in the CasaTunes PC’s Windows Media library.
