Have casatunes running on one of the MCE PC (windows 7) in my home network
set up :  Cable modem—> router (with wifi)—> switch—> MCE with casatunes running
Question :  which music server settings (IP and port) to I need to set in the casa tunes app settings ? The IP address of the nearest AP, the IP address of the router, the IP address of the LAN-network card of the MCE ?
Any help welcome.

Hello Stef,

You would need to input the IP address of the MCE PC (windows 7) that CasaTunes is installed on.  To find it just go to the start button on the task bar and type in cmd in the search window and press enter.  Then when the black command window pops up type in ipconfig and hit enter.  You are intersted in the IPv4 Address.  Just put this address into the app and you will be ready to use it.

Call us if you need any help with it.

Thank you,

Hi Wade, thx.  I got that far but the IP address of my music server seems to keep on putting casatunes app for the itouch in some sort of a loop.  I see the black screen (Casa in green and Tunes in white) and underneath the logo is says at the bottom of the screen “searching for music server at xxx.xxx.x.x (the IP address of the music server I entered).  So it doesn’t seem to be able to connect to the music server on my MCE PC Windows 7.  I leave the port blank.  Would that be the issue ?  The access to the musicserver should go through one of the wifi AP’s in the house, depending on where I am in the house.  The itouch does pick up the wireless network (wifi is working and I have internet on it).  Any other ideas ?  Thx.

Oh and casatunes running on my MCE is version 2.0.1.  Could that be the issue ?  If so, how can I upgrade without risking all my settings (which took me a while to produce them for the whole house wink

Hello Stef,

Thank you for getting back to us.  The port on the iPhone app needs to be be set to 8731.  Also, the Version of CasaTunes you are using is not compatible with the iPhone app.  To upgrade to the new software go to http://www.casatunes.com/downloads and download v2.7.  There is always a slight chance of losing your config file so I would save it in a notepad or word so that you can recreate it if you do lose it.  The config.xml file can be found here C:\ProgramData\CasaTools\CasaTunes\2.0.0.0

Let us know how things turn out.

Thank you,

Wade
