Problem with v2.7 install

I just installed v2.7 onto my showroom Casa Music Server.  Install went great and I love the new features!!!!!

Of course I got adventurous and decided to update a client’s setup remotely via Logmein.  This has not gone so well.  Install finished and the log file seemed to indicate a successful process.  However, when I try to launch CT Setup it hangs at “Initializing Media Libraries”.  Also if I try to launch CasaTunes itself it hangs in the same way and eventually the CT service dies.  I tried a reboot of the machine but still seeing the same issue.

Using the diagnostic tool I see this error in the events log:

Unexpected CasaTunes Error: System.IO.DirectoryNotFoundException: Could not find special directory ‘My Music’.
  at Microsoft.VisualBasic.FileIO.SpecialDirectories.GetDirectoryPath(String Directory, String DirectoryNameResID)
  at Microsoft.VisualBasic.FileIO.SpecialDirectories.get_MyMusic()
  at Microsoft.VisualBasic.MyServices.SpecialDirectoriesProxy.get_MyMusic()
  at Remote.MusicServices.MSiTunes..ctor()
  at Remote.MusicServices.MSManager..ctor()
  at CasaTunes.MainApp.OpenInBackground()
  at System.Threading.ThreadHelper.ThreadStart_Context(Object state)
  at System.Threading.ExecutionContext.Run(ExecutionContext executionContext, ContextCallback callback, Object state)
  at System.Threading.ThreadHelper.ThreadStart()

This setup was running fine with the latest v2.6 release.  I hadn’t made any changes with media directories structures.  Should I try to uninstall then do a fresh re-install?  Since I can’t get Setup to run, will there be problem not de-activating the license first?

Please let me know if I should forward the diagnostics from inside the Diagnostic Tool if that can provide additional debug info.

Here are some specifics of this install:
CT on Vidabox Slimv2 pc
Nuvo GC and GC Expansion amp (running v2.61 firmware) + Nuvo Keypads (original 2 gang)
Controlled by CT using the NuvoNet adapter

Sorry nobody got back to you, yet.
If you can forward the diags info and then you should be able to uninstall/reinstall. Uninstalling should not remove your license number from the registry. Call us if you have any problems with this.
Better yet, from our point of view, would be if you could go back to 2.60 to get the system working for your client and then try again tomorrow (give us a call at 888-855-2272x2 when you are ready, so we will be standing by if you get the same result).
The only reason I am suggesting this is so that our design team can get involved, since we did not see this problem during beta testing.
Thanks, and again, we apologize for the inconvenience!

Kim,
Thanks for getting back with me.  This morning I re-installed v2.6.  It looks to be working ok.  However, there are a couple error messags in the events log.  I orgot to save off the diag file before reverting back to v2.6 so don’t have the v2.7 diag available to send.  I’ll attach the v2.6 file here just in case this provides some clues about upgrading to v2.7.  By the way, I think I forgot to note this is a Vista SP2 media center setup.

Later today I’ll try the v2.7 install again and let you know how it turns out.

Thanks again,
Scott

Oops looks like a .diag file type is not allowed.  Maybe I can change the extension to allow attachment.  Didn’t work.  I guess I’ll need forward using email.

After working off line, we have found the problem and have a fix for it.
Scott is up and running. If anyone else has this problem let us know.

Do you have iTunes 10.1 installed on the pc?  See my other more recent post about that issue>> Help!—bit by the iTunes 10.1 update.  CasaTunes has issued a temporary workaround version of v2.7 that you can download but I found it didn’t help me get the CasaTunes windows service running again.  The fix for me was to downgrade iTunes back to v9 then reinstalling CT v2.7.

Yes I have recently upgraded to 10.1. I will try to uninstall it, install again v2.7 and see what happens. Btw from where can I download that fix?

I downgraded to iTunes 9.2 and installed v2.6. Everything worked fine so I re-install v2.7 but I got the same problem as before. So back again to v2.6. Any help please?

Did you locate the latest v2.7 release?  It can be found from the CasaTunes homepage under downloads link (top right corner of the page).  I think there was a problem with v2.6 and version 9 of iTunes so you might have stumbled back to earlier compatibility issue.

You should be ok with v9.2 iTunes with v2.7 CT.  I think that’s the version I downgraded to for now.

CT hangs just after loading the music libraries and at the same time the service stops. The first time it hanged after giving a message something about “Keypads being installed”, although I have not attached any keypads yet. Then after that it just hangs after loading the music libraries.

No such problem with v2.6.

It is not really iTunes that is the culprit but the “Apple Mobile Device” and “Apple Application Support” packages that are the issue.  So, you need to uninstall these and then re-install iTunes 9.2.  If you still have an issue after you try this, please contact tech support and we can work you through it.

This fixed the problem and I am now running iTunes v9.2 with CT v2.7. Thanks a lot!!!

One thing I just noticed is that my iPod is not recognized by CT when connected. I don’t know if this relates to this problem though or if I should search elsewhere.

Depends on the iPod type.  If it is an iPod touch, iPhone or iPad it does not, otherwise it should.
