We are using CasaTunes with a Russound CAV6.6 system.  Everything works fine on the UNO-S2 keypad, however, on zones where we are using an A-Bus subzone, CasaTunes will not keep playing if the UNO-S2 is turned off.

For example - Zone 1, turn on the UNO-S2 and build a music queue.  Turn on the A-bus subzone.  Works perfectly.  Turn off the UNO-S2 and the music stops playing for Zone 1.

Is this a known issue?

This is because by default we pause the music player if there are no active zones listening to a source.  Since the A-Bus zone is not reported as a powered zone we pause the source when all the primary zones are turned off.  You can turn off the auto pause by changing the application setting called “AutoPausePlaylist” to “false”.

To do this, follow these steps:

1. Stop the CasaTunes Windows Service using the Services applet
2. Start NotePad by Running it in the Administrator mode (right click on NotePad)
3. Open the file C:\Program Files\CasaTools\CasaTunes2\CasaTunesSVC.exe.config
4. Locate the <appSettings> section
5. Locate the <AutoPausePlaylist> section
6. Set its value to “false”
7. Save the file
8. Restart the CasaTunes Windows Service

Is there a way to control the A-Bus subzone directly from CasaTunes (basically functioning as a separate zone)?  We are using the KP3 keypads for these, so it would only apply to power and volume.

Unfortunately Russound does not expose any control over the A-Bus subzones.  Is adding a slave CAV 6.6 out of the question?  Of course, the speaker wiring back to the central unit would also need to be in place.

If you choose this route, you might also check our CasaTunes keypads as they are a single gang, use the same Cat5 (like the Russound keypads) and yet would provide your customers complete control over your CasaTunes music and metadata display.
