Orb does it for $79.99 (stream Sirius XM)

Can Casatunes work with Orb and/or work with SiriusXM to get something going. It just boggles my mind that casatunes hasn’t tried to partner with SiriusXM (or maybe you have but can’t make a deal).

If Sonos, and Orb can do it. Orb can do it pretty cheap it seams. There must be some way to integrate this into Sirius XM. I know I keep harping (or my old posts harped a few times) about getting Sirius and Casatunes working together. But my usage of a fairly expensive setup has dropped considerably since SiriusXMStreamer died after many SirusXM changes.

I’m still holding out hope that something can happen to reliably get SiriusXM streaming through casatunes again. I’ve considered purchasing the Orb, but my biggest issue is having to use two UI’s to navigate. Casatunes to start up/tune to the “orb” sourse, and then Orb app to change Sirius channels. Just seems hoopty to me.

Does WMP+CT need Windows Search Indexer?

I’m wondering how many background services I can eliminate
to reduce overheard and improve performance.
Especially with an SSD as my system drive,
Search isn’t necessary and adds read cycles I don’t want.

Windows Media Player must be running, I understand,
but do I need Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service,
which is dependent on Search Indexer?

Hi,

my sound card recently broke so I replaced it, after the re-install I reconnected the sources correctly, fired up casatunes and everything seemed to work ok.

A few days later all the sources connected to this sound card stopped working (I have other usb converters that are working fine)
When I pressed play on these sources using the older version of casatunes the play button would blink but nothing would happen.

I thought a re-sintall might fix the problem so I downloaded the latest 4.5 from your website
Now when I try to open casatunes it doesn’t get past the loading wheel icon

in the diags I get the following message;

Do you have any idea what this could be, I have tried re-installing the audio card drivers also

Mobile app search frustration

Setup: CasaTunes on a dedicated PC, fairly large music collection: over 80k tracks, somewhere around 17k artists.
I use the Android app, girlfriend has iPhone version. Multiple wifi APs, no speed/connection issues.

The search mode uses a default OR across all artist/title/album fields, so searching on De La Soul, it’s looking for the character set “de” OR character set “la” OR character set “soul” in all song title, album name, and artist fields.

There is no way to pre-filter to search to only specified fields, and quotation marks, google (+/-) and boolean (AND/OR/NOT) connectors are ignored. And while a big search is running, all other user interfaces freeze.

Please tune the search to default AND within specified fields and present results in a condensed, focused list.

$6,000+ worth of whole-house audio and my girlfriend uses her Jambox and Bose dock because the search is too frustrating.

I dream of the day it is predictive and suggests “Lion,” “Zombie,” and “Stripes” after I type “White.”

Updating to 4.50.130309 breaks license

I’m curious if anyone else had this experience:

Updated to the latest version of CasaTunes, 4.50.130309
the library refresh is much improved after the install, but I wanted to test.

So I did a manual stop-and start via the web interface. No problem, still fast.

Then I rebooted the hardware, refresh went great, and now CT won’t start.

It thinks I have an evaluation copy. Won’t activate.

I’ve left a very calm voicemail for tech support.

Hrm.

UPDATE: Another reboot and now everything is working correctly,
including the annoying bug that turns on the music even though all rooms were off before the reboot.

UPDATE 2: The search function has been improved as well. It appears to default to the AND operator,
so searching for ‘de la soul’ returns just that artist.

This is possibly better news than the library refresh.

Thank you to the CasaTunes team for two significant improvements.

building a new casatunes pc question

I am currently running casatunes on a dual core intel processor dell PC that is very power hungry and heats up easily. I am wanting to go green and conserve power with a more efficient PC.

My question is if I build a smaller pc with just a SSD 40GIG hardrive to store Windows 7 and casatunes will I loose any functunality pulling all of my music from a Qnap NAS vs. having it stored on the PC? Will I have any issues with syncing or album art?

Left channel is intermittent

I have had Casatunes for over a year now. In the past 3 months, I have been experiencing problems with the left channel. Right out of the blue, the left channel stops working. The only solution I have found so far is to reset the xLE by unplugging it and then plugging it back in. It works for a while, then the left channel goes out again. Can anyone offer any advice?

Long time to build library on restart

Whenever I have to restart my server, it takes a long time to rebuild the library before I can run Casatunes again. This is a huge pain in the neck when troubleshooting especially, but even in normal operation when we have a glitch that requires a restart.

I realize that, given my large library, any rebuild will take a long time. But in a future version, would it be possible to avoid going through the rebuild process on every reboot? Perhaps you could have it save the library periodically so that it doesn’t need to rebuild on reboot. Or at least use the saved version on reboot while it rebuilds in the background. Or something. Anything.

Can not get Airplay to work

I have been using Casatunes for several years now and like the product. I have just recently tried to use Airplay to stream from my iPhone to casatunes but I am having no luck. Nothing happens. Also tried to send via iTunes on another PC and still no luck.

When I go to the music app and press the Airplay icon I do see all the rooms that I have set up. However when I select one on the phone nothing happens. If I use iTunes I get a dialog that says “connecting to…” but after a few seconds it goes away and the room is not selected.

Casatunes service is running. Airplay is turned on, I can see the rooms from other devices but nothing happens when I try and select. Is there a more detailed guide? I am not sure what I am doing wrong. Thought it was suppose to be pretty much push and play.

Any ideas?
