Just ordered the CasaTunes XLi with Amplifier. Was looking at all sorts of other solutions on the web and nobody is offering exactly what I need. Casatunes seems like the perfect solution for me as all my music is on the network and I have prewired our new house for 10 zones each with cat5 runs from the control box at each room back to the audio hub. Probably not going to use the control pads at this point since I have all sorts of apple devices to control the system.

I wanted to have the ability for my wife to listen to music in our bedroom from my music server while I listen to different music in another room. Probably just going to start with six active zones for now but I love that I can add more relatively easily. I will keep you posted on the install progress but I am very glad I found you guys last night at 12:30.

Any recommendations on minimum specs on a PCs to use for the XLi card? Unfortunately my speaker wire and control box wire runs are not back to my server room but to the living room entertainment center so I will need to buy a PC to place on the network and sync my music files with the server.

I love than you guys are actively tweaking the software and seem very engaged on this discussion board….made my decision to buy easy. I will go ahead and echo that I would love to see the android software as I have sworn off the iphone until it’s on verizon.

no music list

I have succesfully installed casa tunes 2.7 in my windows 7 OS, my problem is, there’s no music list. When I go to select music, its blank and keep on the reading sign on the upper right corner, when I try to search for a music, nothing appears and on the lower left corner says error on page

Switching Zones does not work

Hi!

I installed the casatunes Demo on a Windows 7 64 bit OS and want to test the Iphone App on my Ipod Touch 8 GB with Software Version 4. I installed casatunes successfully after a few tries. Now i can search for music play in my demo zone and adjust the volume, but the only problem is that i can’t turn on or off the zone by clicking the button. so there is shown “zone 1 is off” but it is still playing.
Is this a problem of the demo version? is it a problem of the app?

Hi all,

I am based in the UK and have been reviewing numerous options for a new install. I have decided that CasaTunes should be a main element of the multiroom system, I lke the functionality & Ipod control. However; I am struggling in a few areas and would appreciate your comments, however basic or obvious…

I am looking to control a 12 Zones system and have 3 options so far..

XLi, 2 x 12 channel Amps & Ipod Touch controller’s (Problem is that 12 channel amp’s are expensive in the UK and the US spec one that I have located are not compatable with our 240V supply, not to mention the shipping costs and support issues are a serious factor).

Russound C-Series 5 x 2, MDK-C5 keypad controller & Ipod Touch controller’s, But no wall mounted colour touch screen - See Q6.

NuVo GC x 2, Colour Touch Screen controller’s, Ipod Touch Controller’s.

1. Your thoughts & comments on the 3 options above ?
2. Do you loose any functionality of the CasaTune system, when connected to a Russound or NuVo system (wake up for example )?
3. When will CasaTunes have a colour touch screen control ? Cost ?
4. Does the Nuvo Colour Touch Screen fully integrate with CasaTunes ?
5. Can sub-zones be handled within CasaTunes (eg an en-suite bathroom) I am aware both Russound & Nuvo can handle this?
6. I gather there is a limitation with the CasaTunes control over other equipment connected to the C5 other than a Music Server with the CasaTunes card installed. Thus only 4 out 8 source can be controlled ?
7. Regarding Q6, does the same issue apply to the NuVo GC system ?
8. If I want 4 different outputs off a Music Server, simultaneously, how is this acheived, as I think only 1 copy of WMP can be run ?
9. Can a number of seperate amplifiers be used rather than a 12 channel amp (cost of seperates are very good, but I am concerned about control / functionality) ?
10. If YES to 9,, what would the Amp’s specifically have to have on them to be fully controlable via CasaTunes ?

Is there a way to configure CasaTunes and/or mControl to enable a user to launch CasaTunes from within a specific zone in the zone view of mControl such that when CasaTunes starts it has that zone already set?

I notice you say that the XLa has 50W per channel output, is that at 4Ohm, or 8Ohm?

PC Sound card and XLE

I understand that the XLE card is a switch and a sound card in the same time. First question is:what is the quality of the sound card used by the XLE (important since the DAC is performed there)? With what commercially availabe sound card can it be compared?

Second question: would I be able to “replace” the sound card used by Casatunes software with my own installed (and potentially better quality, say Auzentech Prelude) card, but still be allowed to use the switch capabilities of the XLE card?

I can see that this is possible in respect to Russound and Nuvo switches ... bu I am not sure as to whether this is possible with the switch built-in the XLE card.

Using CasaTunes to control TV’s in several zones

We have a customer using 3 Russound Cav 6.6.‘s and VM1’s to distribute audio and video to 16 zones. We are testing the Casa Tunes software as a possible option to provide control for the system. Everything is working fine but we cannot figure out a way to have the Casa Tunes software control the TV in each zone. The TV’s do not have serial control though it may be possible to swap them out for TV’s that do. At a minimum we would like to have the power controlled so that the TV is powered on and off when the zone is powered on and off.

Switch CasaTunes Computer

Hello,

I have CasaTunes running on a Windows 7 machine. I want to save CasaTunes configuration from this machine and then install Windows Home Server and re-install CasaTunes. Please let me know what all are the CasTunes configuration files that I need to backup and restore (so that I can skip CasaTunes setup process)?

I was thinking just the ‘CasaTunesSvc.exe.config’ file.

Any plans to add the ability to adjust the Bass, Treble, Balance, Loudness, on Volume, etc.. in a Russound Cav 6.6 zone from the Casa Tunes interface?
