Setup: CasaTunes on a dedicated PC, fairly large music collection: over 80k tracks, somewhere around 17k artists.
I use the Android app, girlfriend has iPhone version. Multiple wifi APs, no speed/connection issues.

The search mode uses a default OR across all artist/title/album fields, so searching on De La Soul, it’s looking for the character set “de” OR character set “la” OR character set “soul” in all song title, album name, and artist fields.

There is no way to pre-filter to search to only specified fields, and quotation marks, google (+/-) and boolean (AND/OR/NOT) connectors are ignored. And while a big search is running, all other user interfaces freeze.

Please tune the search to default AND within specified fields and present results in a condensed, focused list.

$6,000+ worth of whole-house audio and my girlfriend uses her Jambox and Bose dock because the search is too frustrating.

I dream of the day it is predictive and suggests “Lion,” “Zombie,” and “Stripes” after I type “White.”

We run Casa Tunes from our android phones. We have five phones total, one LG Revolution, three Motorola Droids, and one Motorola Bionic. All experience the same two issue:

1) When we open the CasaTunes app, it often takes a long time (20-40 seconds, occasionally even longer) to connect to the server.

2) Sometimes the app is slow to respond once things are up and running (20 seconds), and we get periodic force closes.

We get by OK, but sometimes it is easier to walk over to the server closet and manage music from the server than it is to use the android app, which is not ideal.

Ok, so I jumped right in today and Rooted my wife’s brand new NookColor so that I could get access to the Android Market. I downloaded CasaTunes v1.2 (according to the Market Notes). I’ve been a long time user of the iPhone app, so was surprised when I couldn’t seem to locate the volume control in this Android version. When I’ve selected a specific room I can see the transport controls but where is the volume slider? Am I missing something, or maybe this is an issue with using on the NookColor since it’s a different screen size/resolution than a typical Android smartphone? Any thoughts would be great.

Anyhow, I wanted to say thanks for jumping into the Android marketplace with CasaTunes. I look forward to offering this for clients that also have Android phones or tablets in the future.

Update——-
Duh!! Now I see the note about using the devices volume hard buttons! I thought I had tried without seeing any change at the wall keypad, but maybe it was a wifi glitch.

Good Job Guys!

Going from V1.0 to V1.1
Unfortunately, our Key for the app was messed up, so the upgrade is a new app. You will need to uninstall the old app and install “CasaTunes Multi-Room Control”.
We know what we did wrong, so future updates should act like normal Android updates.
Write down your IP address, since you will need to enter it again.
Sorry!!
