Controlling the volume on a receiver with a Russound keypad

Hello,

I am currently using an Onkyo recevier on one of my zones with the Russound CAV6.6 and Uno S2 keypad. It seems that the volume button on the keypad still control the CAV volume, but not the receiver volume directly. However, the CasaTunes web UI and the apps control the receiver volume directly.

Is there a way to have the keypad control the receiver volume directly? I have set the fixed volume output option in the advanced zone setup, but it does not seem to enable this.

Power Management

I have a Casatunes Music Server sourcing a 12-zone home system using 2 Russound CAV6.6 controllers. Everything is working great. The technician that installed my system has advised me to leave everything powered on 24/7. I’m not comfortable with this for what seems to me obvious reasons—electricity usage overnight and on vacations as well as heat (the home theatre equip is in the same rack and often in use when the music system is not used).

It seems the Russound offers a Power Management feature that powers down the system when all zones are turned off and repowers when one keypad is turned on. But the source has to have “Power Management Enabled”. Is this something done within CasaTunes or the Russound setup?

If I can’t get this to work, is there any problem manually turning off the two CAV6.6’s and Casatunes server when all zones are off and we’re not using the system.

UNO-S2 not working correctly with 2.9

Hello,

I just updated to 2.90.110808 and strange things are happening with my Uno-S2 keypads. The items I have noticed so far…

- When I go to itunes music and try to page through the list using the up and down arrows, it briefly flashes “No Playlist Found” in between each selection
- When I am playing a song and try to go back to the menu to turn party mode or shuffle on, the left and right arrow keys change the song.

CasaTunes and DVR Integration

Hi there. I am looking to go with CasaTunes as a means to control a Russound 6.6 via my Iphone and eventually Ipad. I understand that via the app I will have complete control over my MP3 library as well as its distribution via the Russound. However, I am unclear as to how to go about integrating a source from my HD-DVR. Is this as seamless as I believe it would be? I am hoping to have the ability to send audio from sporting events throughout the house and want to make sure that it is as simple as plugging from the DVR to the sound card input. Meta data from cam6xm and st tuner

Hi just installed your software and I am very impressed with the fuctionality. For some reason the meta data from the internal xm tuner that is in the cam is not sending info back to the app or the web server. Same for the fm tuner. The music plays from both but no data? The data from shoutcast work as and as well as the iTunes server…

What am I doing wrong?

Is it possible to control some of the sources connected via IR to my CAM6.6 with CT. If you select “unknown” source in setup you get a “remote” on the screen in CT. Can I somehow use this??

Selecting music with version 2.7 on russound keypad

Hi All,

Please help, I have successfully used version 2.6 with a russound cam 6.6t and russound uno s2 keypads selecting music etc. I saw that version 2.7 was available online and ran an update. Software on the pc was fine but suddenly I cannot select music from the keypads anymore. The only communication I have is the meta data that is streamed to the keypads. Switching a zone on and off from the pc also works fine. It is purely selecting music at the keypads. I’m thinking to install version 2.6 again since it worked just fine.

I would love to stay updated though so please help.

I recently contacted Danny Mavromatis at mavromatic.com regarding his device for porting PC metadata to Russsound MCA-C5 keypads. He responded to my question about using CasaTunes as the multi-source server follows:

“Theoretically that shouldn’t be a problem and multiple sources can be supported. Until I see the Casatunes protocol I won’t be able to give you a time frame when support will be added. It would be a firmware upgrade. Depending on how protocol, any settings can be made via the onboard webserver running on myro:bridge—this is how you currently setup the RNET source ID (1-12).

To speed things up, please email Casatunes and ask them to support myro:bridge. I’ve had a quite a few folks ask about adding Casatunes support.”

So, if CasaTunes is not able to include this feature in its application, is this a reasonable alternative?

configuration question

Hello,

I am a newbie as far as CasaTunes, but I like everything I have read about the product. I am trying to determine if it will work with my setup. I have a Russound CAV6.6 located in a equipment rack, and in the same rack I have a server running Microsoft server 2003. I currently have an itunes library on a desktop PC and was thinking of installing itunes on the server and using that same library of music, and would like to then use the output from an audio card on the server to drive two or three sources on the CAV.

From what I have read on the forums it seems as if this setup is possible, am I right so far?

One of my main concerns is that I believe I also read somewhere in the forums that there could potentially be some issues with this setup depending on what other applications might be running on the server. Is this true and do you have any guidelines as to what might create conflicts?
