Hi

I have installed the card on a Win7 core i3 computer and connected each zone to a separate amplifier.
When starting the music I here bad sound quality on each zone. On each zone I hear crackling voices when the song is played.
I have tested the same amplifier and sound connection through my cell phone and everything sounds OK so it is not a problem with my amplifier or connection.
Is my card defective? What can be done?

Hi,
Your literature mentions the provided audio card is DVD Audio quality. Can you confirm the specifications for the card? The literature includes specs for frequency response, S/N ratio, etc, but does not give information on the digital format it supports. DVD-A spec calls for supporting up to 192 khz/24bit data. Does your matrix sound card handle 192 kHz sampling rate/24bit data? If not, does it at least handle 96kHz, 24 bit data?

Thanks.

I need some advice if the following scenario is feasible:

I’m considering moving my XLe card from the original Shuttle music server chassis into a 1U rack mount computer that would contain a mini-ITX motherboard. It would probably be something like a Zotac Ion (w Atom 330 or D525 dual core) that includes a PCI-E X16 expansion slot so the XLe will fit into this chassis since it has 2 full height card slots.

Does this sound feasible? Would the XLe work with an install of Win Home Server or would it be better to stick with Win 7?

Thanks,

I’m based in the UK and, as I understand it, the Casatunes 12 channel amp will not work as we have a 240v AC system while the amp is designed for a 110v DC current. Is this right? If so I have a couple of questions:

1. If the amp does not work in the UK is there a list of 12 channel amps that will… or at least a list of amps that I can search through to try and find a compatible one?

2. If you can’t answer 1. Can anyone give me a must have attributes the amp will need to make it compatible with XLi, bearing in mind that I want to have 6 zones, all potentially playing a different track.

3. Will the amp require 6 inputs for the 6 streams that come from the XLi card?

I’m a bit of a newbie at all this so thanks for you patience.

Here’s a question I haven’t seen asked before. Is it possible to use HDMI cat5 extender baluns between the music server card and the XLe switch? I’m guessing the interface doesn’t follow the HDMI spec for the individual wires and instead is just making use of the # of wires available to transfer the analog outputs to the XLe. If this is the case, is there a limit to the length of an HDMI cable that can be used between the two devices? Reason for the question is that I’d like to move the amp and XLe to a basement equipment rack but leave the Music server in a first floor study.

Thanks,
